After starting over from scratch, I returned to a core principle of mine. Through hard work, consistency, and treating people right, we rebuilt all we had lost and continued to pursue my passion for real estate.
Julie and I took one last look at our house and the light reflecting off of Lake Spivey. This was our home, where my family and I had chosen to build our life, but it was time to say goodbye.
In 1989, I became a licensed REALTOR® after moving around for several years. I had gone into construction right out of high school, and between that and bartending, I lived all across the US. In the end, I returned to Atlanta, where I was born, because it is home.
After becoming a REALTOR®, I never looked back. Over the years, my expertise grew, and by 2006 I was known as the Lake Spivey Specialist. It was my best year yet! Then it all came grinding to a halt in January 2007. As the industry crashed, my family and I struggled to hang on to the life we had built.
The next few years were rough, and after going through all of our savings, we sold and lost everything else, including our home at Lake Spivey. It was a time to pause and reevaluate. Atlanta was one of the hardest hit markets. There was nothing left for us to do here, so we followed an opportunity to Nashville. We were only there a year before I was recruited to run a Keller Williams office in Jacksonville, Florida. However, I always yearned to return to Atlanta.
Over the next couple of years, we rebuilt and never lost sight of our dream to move back to Atlanta—back home. Even though it was a hard time, we only lost material things. We still had the three things that mattered most: faith, family and health. So, although it was a humbling experience, we overcame it together. In the most stressful moments, I turned to prayer and was reminded that circumstances are only temporary.
Our time here on this earth is limited, but salvation is everlasting. Treating others well is my number one priority because what is inside matters most. I always return to that principle. In the crash, through focusing on serving others, I was able to turn around a failing brokerage and make it profitable again within two years. After that, I established a team and rose to the top team in our office within just three months.
For a couple of years as a young man, I pursued a professional boxing career. I recognized early in life that no matter what happens, you just get back up. My father also inspired me with his relentless work ethic and follow through. I took what I saw in him to heart, and even when the real estate industry came to a standstill, I continued going to work each day and did everything I could to move things forward once again.
I am so proud of my children and the success they are discovering. My daughter is in the salon industry and my son is serving in the Army. I encouraged both of them to pursue their passions because if you are doing what you love, no matter how hard the fight is, you will always find a way to get back up.
After many years of teaching school and coaching gymnastics, my wife Julie is now working with me in real estate as our Director of Operations. She brings the same work ethic and competitive-ness to our team that she brought to the gymnasts she trained.
We made it back to Atlanta a handful of years after we left and once again live at Lake Spivey—we are home. Whenever I am not working, I enjoy golfing, boating, and going to the beach with friends. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is creating memorable experiences for my clients while helping them move forward in life.
As your REALTOR®, I will put the focus on you. Whatever you are hoping to achieve in this transaction, you are trying to move forward. I will ask questions and take time to get to know you, your needs, wants, and what matters most in your life. Once I know all that, I will work relentlessly to get you and your family where you want to be and advocate for your interests along the way.
Over the decades I have been in this industry, I have helped my clients move forward no matter what kind of market we face. I know this area unlike anyone else, and, as the Lake Spivey Specialist, I know what it takes to sell a home as well as a luxury listing. No matter what, I do not give up and will keep fighting for you long after closing. When the papers are signed and we have reached your goal, I will still be here to help you reach the next one as your lifelong REALTOR®.
Sincerely,
Lane Farmer
